Essex Market
Essex Market
Essex Market has been a vital part of the Lower East Side since 1818, evolving from street carts to its current home at Essex Crossing. As the flagship of NYC's Public Markets family, it offers fresh food and diverse vendors who serve the community with groceries, prepared dishes, and cultural experiences.
The Partnership has collaborated with Essex Market vendors and NYC EDC since 2014. We provide merchant support through programming, marketing, facility improvements, and vendor services while ensuring the market remains accessible to all community members.
fresh bites
Fresh Bites focuses on how to prepare fresh fruits and vegetables found at Essex Market — and use them as the base for cooking delicious, healthy, and affordable meals. Classes meet weekly, with translations offered in Chinese on Tuesdays, and in Spanish on Thursdays.
